Question about getting rid of CICS frontend

Dear Friends,
We are currently in the processing of converting an application from a CICS/APPC frontend to a server frontend communicating with the CV by means of a TCPIP listener. With this conversion done, we anticipate getting rid of CICS.
Although the CICS region does little more than pass through the transactions to the CV, it does permit the CICS stats to be used for transaction volume and response time reports. With the CICS region gone, we will have to find another source of these statistics.
I presume there are two possible sources of statistics, the CV or the server. Before I dive in and re-invent the wheel, I am curious to know if anyone else has gone through a conversion of this nature and how they report on the transaction performance without CICS. Currently, we don't have statistics turned on the CV, so I am curious to see if I can get some information out of the server before turning anything on in the CV.
