Does anyone have a 2500+ user base using SQLServer.
We currently are on Linux(Websphere) and oracle but may need to get off Oracle and move to SQLServer(don't ask why)
We are concerned with SQLServer performance/locking or other problems.

If you have a large implementation of Clarity with SQLServer and you use Schedule Connect will you let me know what you are using for you app server(Tomcat,Websphere) and whether or not you think is it a good solution.
In the next year or 2 or 3 we could end up with 3000 or 4000 users, 1000 to 1500 concurrent, and I want to know if someone else has that sort of a user based with an architecture that they are satisfied with.

Hi we have 4500 users across 44 countries on SQL

We have 3 web app servers all running Tomcat (These are virtual servers)
One database server running SQL 2005
    Clarity Version 12.1

We are happy with this solution :-)

How many concurrent users have you planned for?
We are trying to accomodate 750.

What are you using for reporting?

    thanks for your follow up.

There used to be a document about sizing of Clarity in a SQL Server environment available from CA. You might want to check your rep.

I'll go through my files and if i find the name I'll forward it along.

You also have to remember the number of concurrent users you are using, if your database is dedicated or shared, what sort of hardware you are running on, what features of Clarity you are using, etc.

The presentations/files from CA you would be looking for are:

"Clarity r8.1 Windows Sample Deployment Architecture.pdf"

I would assume that CA has updated this document, but basically the hardware specs would be similiar for the most recent version of Clarity. The important part would be the sizing for your environment. in the case of yours you would most likely be looking at 3 app servers, load balancer, 1 reporting server, and one database server. The document states that CA recommends oracle when you reach the 5000 user threshold. But up until that point SQL Server should work fine.

    Hope this helps!

    There are other docs eg

Database Tuning for Microsoft® SQL Server® 2005 (includes a large reference to other resources)
    Clarity_1201_ServicePack_Test_Results (500 users)
Performance Testing for 12.0 Service Pack 3 Windows and SQL Server 2005 (500 users)
Clarity r12 SP1 Windows 32-bit Deployment Architectures v1.0 (up to 5000 users both MS SQL and Oracle)

Obviously I 'm slow getting back to this...

I was looking for more real life experieces.
I know what the CA documentation says.

Is anyone running 5000+ users allowing for 750+ concurrent on SQLServer?
Is anyone doing that AND running Websphere and Linux?
Right now the only "module" we are using is Program and project management.
