  • 1.  Support of Duplicate Job Names

I am in the process of converting an internal business unit from another scheduler to CA7.   This scheduler that is currently being used will allow duplicate job names, because you define the application to the scheduler then schedule the jobs to execute. So multiple applications could have job ABC defined, and there is a JES exit that will allow the duplicate job names to execute simultaneously.   So my question is, can you define job ABC to CA7 but pull in the JCL from ***.***.xxxx dataset member name “XYZâ€??   Has anyone done this in the past?   What are the gotcha’s other than the obvious confusion that may occur with the operations team and the support staff?   This is a viable option we are pursing with some very strict algorithms in defining the job’s to CA7 scheduler with some very detailed turnover procedures.     Any help would be greatly appreciated.  Phon

You can execute a different MEMBER than the jobname as defined to CA  7, but the job will run under the name that is defined on the DB.1 (JOB) screen.   There is no way in CA 7 to have it submit a job with the same name as one that is currently submitted by CA 7.
