If you select an attribute as a "Large Text", it stores it (in oracle) as a CLOB field. My goal is to copy the value of a CLOB field from one field to another. In a process, I had the code Update Z_Table set CLOB_FIELD = 'Testing CLOB Text' where ROWID = 1 and it worked beautifully. If I ran the same script in my database software (TOAD) , it works.... BUT.... If I put it in a trigger to update the field when the object is updated.. Nothing happens except for the field being filled with spaces for the number of characters it was supposed to have. (Please note that the trigger works fine as other non clob fields are being updated) Any advice working with the Large Text CLOB fields that may help me solve my problem?
