Our timesheets are configured with weekly periods. When viewing the "Allocations" tab of a resource, and going to the "details" subtab, and then clicking on the back arrow ("

This is all to do with the way that you have your "Time Slices" configured (that message you see is when you try to get the application to show you some data "out of range" of your "TIme Slice" settings). So, if you look at the admin tool, under Time Slices you should see the various settings (you'll need to read up on what they all mean though!). This starts to get pretty complicated in terms of what your business needs are versus the amount of data that you generate to support the screens - i.e. changing the "Time Slice" configuration can have a VERY BIG impact on database sizes and system performance. There are a fair few discussions on caforums about Time Slicing configurations etc and lots in the KB also. TEC435563 and TEC435572 might be a good place to start "digging". -- I'd question you business requirements carefully also though.... ALLOCATIONS tend to be a "forecast/planning" view of the data, rather than a "historical record of fact" view (like a TIMESHEET). Indeed ALLOCATIONS don't really have anything to do with TIMESHEETS (which are much more focussed on DAILY TIME ENTRIES, ACTUALS, and ETCs). If you post "why" you are trying to look at historical ALLOCATIONS, maybe someone can come up with some functional suggestions also? David MortonCapgemini

I do disagree. As TEC439086 says hese are internal timeslices that can not be configured. So it makes no difference how you configure your user configurable slices. The work around is to create a custom portlet based on the user configurable slices and to configure the slices to cover the time range needed. Then you are limited to the functionality of the user created portlets. Yes you are right, that this screen (and the similar "Resource Planning / Allocations / Weekly Details" portlet all use the "hidden/system timeslices" rather than the "user configurable" slices.... BUT you CAN change the configuration of those "hidden timeslices" pretty easily (through the GUI even*), but you need to run that past CA first (as a customization request ), so its a good idea to really understand your business-rationale for wanting to do this (and can you solve the same problem in a simpler way without resorting to customizing this configration?).
i.e. If you start to go down the route of wanting to change the system slices then you really need to understand "Time Slicing" generally and your business-needs before you even contemplate changing the system values. (* - you just do this by going into the Time Slice maintenance screens, amend (for example) slice #10 and then in the URL in the browser change the " id=10 " to (for example) " id=100 ", but remember that this is an UNSUPPORTED / DANGEROUS thing to be doing!)
