Hi Dave, The link in your post back in 2009 is broken, probably due to the changeover to the new User Community portal. Any thoughts on how to retrieve the SQL behind the My Projects portlet, as it looks like I need to build a custom version to meet business requirements. At the very least, do you know where the attribute is stored when the user clicks [Add to My Projects]?

But I disagree!!!
(you have resorted to re-writing CA's code for them though! - and yes; definitely take care whenever you install any upgrade/hotfixes)
In Clarity 13.2 (I have not checked in other versions) you can customize the "My Projects" portlet from within the Project object. Just go to Studio->Objects->Project->Views.
On the list you will see "My Projects" list. Just click it and add all the columns you wish (or I should say, from thos which are available...). The Publish the changes (or not, depending what you want to achieve).
No more tinkering with vxsl files!
