Hello,  I have a problem when opening a project in Microsot Project, it takes too long (about 15 min).  My project has lot of task and I would like to know if there any way to improve the performance of this activity.  Regards,  Helio Vázquez

Can you swicth to OWB? The inferfaces works faster for that. There are other posts related to MSP problems on this forum and the KB is worth checking.  Martti K.

There are ways to improve the performance but it typically involves a review of the schedule to either reduce tasks or dependencies (and other schedule logic).

While it may be the project plan, we've run into similiar issues, and sometimes flushing the security caches has helped speed things up.

    action=security.caches

We have experienced this issue as well. One thing that we did to help the issue was ensure that the team roster was as clean as possible. This especially included any roles that were on the project. If there is staff on the roster that isn't being utilized (no ETC and no Actuals posted), it is best to get them off the roster. This will help a lot in the time to open as it isn't trying to download all the unnecessary resource calendars.

    Hello

One way to get the project open faster (in OWB) is to rmove the site.rmg file from the path C:\Program Files\Open Workbench\data

The same should work for MSP as well... Worth giving a shot... :)

Isn't Site.rmg the Global file whose existense determines that OWB will use certain locally stored values to override the values coming from Clarity.
I don't think that exists with MSP and there is no similar Data fodler in the MSP installation.

Apart from the reduction in the data set as suggested above?

In case you also have many baselines in that project, you could try and set the Clarity > Admin > [Project Management] Settings > "Only Export Current Baselines When Opening Projects in a Scheduler" to TRUE.

A few other things come to mind
A PC with more RAM, better CPU, faster network connection to Clarity... same thing for the server....

What Clarity version are you on? And are you on Oracle or SQLServer?

    1. If you have multiple baselines, use the Export Current Baseline setting in the Admin too.

    2. The site.rmg file is specific ONLY to OWB. It is not used by MSP.

    3. Ruthann's suggestion is excellent as well.

    4. Workstation hardware and network speed will make a difference.

    5. Cleaning up the plan as a whole, or breaking out parts into sub projects would be useful in the future to larger projects.
