I am a CA ITSM consultant in Tech mahindra, regularly we are facing issues with CA application.
Could you please give suggestions or instructions to better maintenance of CA.
For APM related issue, you can search the knowledge base here.....
CA Application Performance Management - CA Technologies
or open a case with Support
Look at the Cookbook for an EM HealthCheck. This will let you confirm if the APM cluster is working normally. If there are issues, it will also give suggestions as what to address in order to resolve them. Also study the "APM Performance and TUning Guide". This has all of the source information for why certain KPIs exist and what they mean. This is the ultimate reference.
If you need help understanding what the healthCheck reveals, then collect the appropriate screenshots, as instructed in the Cookbook, and send them along. That way we can make it an exercise for everyone on the alias to appreciate.
You didn't mention if you use APM CE (CEM) or triage map. I previously posted a Tuesday Tip and Tech Note on APM Database maintenance. You can also use APM to monitor other CA products such as Service Desk.
Thank you for suggestion. We are not using any APM tools to monitoring CA application performance, i am looking for instructions or tips to do manually and monitor CA application performance.
For example :
1.If you install KPI's in CA application.
2.If you configure "Mutli tenancy" in CA application. 3.Is there tips for load balancing?
4. if you setup offline reporting replication setup?
5. If you configure "ITPAM" ?
If above things happens in CA application, what kind of issues will arise? If they will arise what kind of steps need to take up to maintain high availability of application?
Well, as this is no longer a "CA APM" question... let's take a different approach.
CA has about 200 software products. Every application is a little different than the next. Here are the potential strategies for UNIX environments:
Windows and mainframe environment will have similar but different approaches as well.
I don't know what CA applications you have in your portfolio but you will need to look at each application independently to answer your questions.
Having a consistent monitoring strategy, for all CA products - this is simply something that CA, nor really anyone else in the Industry, has yet achieved.
Definitely nice to have - but not today or anytime soon...
Sorry I did not mention the application name, we are using "CA servicedesk 12.7 version".
We have installed the servicedesk on "windows platform".
Servicedesk is being giving problems like "1. slowing down some time" 2. Taking much time to load 3. while searching for incidents, it is stucking.
In near future we would like to implement 1. Tenant 2. KPI 3. offline reporting 4. ITPAM. If we implement these things, is there any affect on "servicedesk tool"?
if there is any affect what could we do to maintain better performance of the tool.
Could you please suggest instructions to monitor the tool manually and suggest is there manual testing methods?
Take a look in our documents folder for a Service Desk integration solution I wrote for EPA.
