If you missed Office Hours today here is the text of the chat. Hope to see you at the next one!

    From Deepak to Everyone:

Hi, Is there any plan to have audit trail on TimeSheet?? ..

                  From Dave Lord to Everyone:

On a related note, I've had many requests from users for more customization capability on the timesheet.  Specifically, setting column widths.

From Kelly Limberg (CA) to Everyone:

@ Deepak. We don't have a rep for product management on the call today. I can say that functionality is not in 14.1 and 14.2, however you can submit and idea on the community

From Kelly Limberg (CA) to Everyone:

@ Deepak, - Historical "adjusted" timesheets are in the timesheet administration view, but they only show a record of a past posted then adjusted timesheet. You don't have history if smaller edits such as changes before it was posted initially.

    From David Morton to Everyone:

@DaveL @Deepak - I think that the most voted (and one of the very oldest) "ideas" on the idea-site is to make timesheet a "studio object" (and thus get all the audit/configurability etc). But there are barely any comments on that idea from CA-development and so I would not "hold your breath".  :-(

    From David Morton to Everyone:

    @DaveL @Deepak (and @Kelly!) - the 'idea' is here https://communities.ca.com/ideas/103019287

    From Amy Caliboso to Everyone:

For resource management and non-project/non-work time, is it best practice to allocate non-work time in the resource calendar, or to a project or other work task?

    From Terri Echegoyen to Everyone:

@ Amy - we use a project called non-billable time for contractors to use for non-work time. We use a project called Out-of-Office for employees to charge non-worked time to.

    From Judy to Everyone:

@Terry, For holidays, do you show the days as working or non-working on your Resource Calendar?

    From Terri Echegoyen to Everyone:

@Amy - we do not enter hours for holidays. Those days are left blank on the timesheet. Resource capacity during holiday weeks is reduced

From Kelly Limberg (CA) to Everyone:

@ Amy @ Terry -  An out of office project can get unmanageable for large organizations, perhaps splitting them up by department if that the case for your org. Or making a new one for each calendar year. Some organizations use charge codes to tracking, vacation, sick, OOTO.

    From Amy Caliboso to Everyone:

@Terri - do your resource managers allocate known non-work time (vacations) to the Out-of-Office project to account for planning non-availabilty? @Kelly - yes, we have one huge OOO project for 100+ people and it is messy. Will consider the dept or annual project options.  Thanks! Since this is more for resource mgmt vs financial we had not considered charge codes.

    From Terri Echegoyen to Everyone:

@Atul@Kelly - yes, RMs allocate know time off to which ever project applies. We have 200+ resources and use one project but annual tasks which are shut down at the end fo the calendar year.

    From Amy Caliboso to Everyone:

@Terri-one OOO project and annual tasks...that's something to consider. :-)

From Kelly Limberg (CA) to Everyone:

@Terri  @Amy - Annual (calendar or fiscal) projects for OOTO i think would work best for you, you can always use the last years as a template for creating the new one. Adding tasks to one projects means that the project will keep growing and growing.

    From Atul Kunkulol to Everyone:

Job - Update ETC's with Allocations - This job works for most but not for all. Is there a way to figure out why some allocations are not updating?

From Connie Fu (CA) to Everyone:

@Atul, are you referring to the action on the project team page called "allocate from estimate"?

    From Atul Kunkulol to Everyone:

@Connie - No. to the job in reports and job

    From Atul Kunkulol to Everyone:

@Connie - Tried the action as well with the same result

    From Shawn Moore to Everyone:

@Atul, if you mean the Update Estimates From Allocation job.   The only thing that jumps out at me is that it will only consider active investments.   Other than that it uses the 5 job parameters to drive what it will work on.

    From Atul Kunkulol to Everyone:

@Shawn - The investment is active. Some resources on that same investment are updated correctly but not the rest. Resource setup is similar to the others.

From Connie Fu (CA) to Everyone:

@Atul there could be an issue where the actual thru date is not set correctly for these team members

    From Atul Kunkulol to Everyone:

@Connie - They are not entering any actuals. They have ETC's and would like that updated to Allocations.

    from David Betterton to Everyone:

@Atul Do the resources have vacations in their own calendars ?

    From Atul Kunkulol to Everyone:

@David - No vacations except weekends. . fairly new setup.

From Connie Fu (CA) to Everyone:

@Atul, if you select those team members from the project and use the action drop down, does it update the allocation there?

    From Terri Echegoyen to Everyone:

@Atul@Kelly - yes, RMs allocate know time off to which ever project applies. We have 200+ resources and use one project but annual tasks which are shut down at the end for the calendar year.

    From Atul Kunkulol to Everyone:

@Connie - Tried it from actions menu as well and it did not update

From Connie Fu (CA) to Everyone:

@Atul, can you check to see if those affected resources are assigned to the project's effort task?

From Chris Hackett (CA) to Everyone:

Thank you everyone for joining today. The chat will be posted later today to the community.

    From Terri Echegoyen to Everyone:

    @Chris - thank you
