  • 1.  Can CA SDM 12.9 be installed on SQL2012 SP2

Trying to run CA SDM installer on SQL2012 SP2 and i'm receiving a message stating Microsoft SQL Server version not supported. Can anyone tell me if SQL2012 SP2 is compatible and if so what's the work around?

Is the SQL server instance remote or local to the SD Application server?

Is SQL running on the default instance or a named instance?

Is the user logged into the OS a member of the local administrator group and also have rights to SQL?

Please attach a copy of the pdm_install_mdb.log and a screeshot showing the SQL configuration screen.

It’s remote and a named instance.

I am a part of the Admin group as well as an Admin on the SQL server

    Hi Amie,

Perform the below steps on the REMOTE SQL Server

    1. Copy <ServiceDesk install media>\addons\mdb\mssql to the server
    2. Copy the java\jre folder from the install media to the server
    3. Run the below setupmdb.bat command from the command prompt of the SQL Server. Change the path to the folder where you have the setupmdb.bat from point 1 above.

Note: The below lines may be split into multiple lines. So ensure that when you run the command they are all in one line.

    setupmdb.bat -DBVENDOR=mssql -DBUSER=servicedesk -DBPASSWORD=<password>

    -DBHOST=SERVERNAME\INSTANCENAME -DBPORT=#### -MANIFEST=Service_Desk -WORKSPACE=Service_Desk -JRE_DIR=<path to Java>

    Regards

    hI Amie,

You check if you have SQL on cluster, if so then try to provide the cluster name while running MDB installation. you may open the temp file of logged in user to review install_mdb.log file to check what errors are recorded.

The alternative approach is to run from the command line utility which was posted in previous thread.

Normally the error seen is related to access to the database server, and not that the MS-SQL server version is not supported. The user logged in the database server should be granted trusted connection to the sql server.

For example, try to log into the database MS-SQL server in SQL Server Managemnet Studio selecting "Windows Authentication" as the Authentication type. It should be able to connect. And beside the trusted authentication this logged in user should be sysadmin to the SQL server.

Check your SQL Port, I had a similar problem, and found out that the port was not 1433.

The DBA was able to detemine by running some form of a script
