    Hello Oscar,

maybe your Reaper is not working. Check the Service "CA NFA Reaper."

If it is so, look at ...\Netflow\datafiles\ReaperInput.

Sometimes is there a ".tbn.bad" file, followed by many .tbn files.

    This let's the reaper crash.

Than you just have to restart the Reaper Service.

The Reaper Service will process the collected .tbn files step by step.

If this was the solution, please look at the idea "NFA Reaper Service, with .tbn.bad files" and vote for it.

    Regards

    Frank

    Hi Frank,

    Thanks for you support.

I followed the directory that you said, and the ReaperInput folder is empty.

And still have the harvester system status messages.

    Another idea?

    Thanks in advance.

    Regards

One problem is that your watchdog on the master can't communicate with the SNMP agent on the harvester. Make sure the Windows SNMP service is set to allow requests from your master using the same community string as what's configured in the watchdog settings. The watchdog must communicate with the Windows SNMP service on the Harvester using port 161. If you have another agent running on that port, you must move that other agent off that port.

    Linux harvesters are different.

Also, are you sending flows to your harvester? Are you getting data in the MC web gui?

I think there are 2 Problems.

The messages with "state is unknown" are hints for SNMP communication problems, as discribed by Stuart.

I know the first 2 messages with "Timestamp" only in combination with application problems. I don't know, how it would look, if you don't receive flows.

Checking the incomming flows is really necessary.

But except a reboot I have no new ideas and would submit a ticket.

    Regards

    Frank

    Hi Oscar,

I believe the problem is with SNMP settings. This video should help you to configure watdog and SNMP settings correctly:

Please note that you have to configure SNMP community string in 172.16.70.5.

    Hi dudes

    Thank you all for reply.

The Snmp service has the same SNMP CS that WatchDog.

    See:

    2014-12-31_122347.png

And Stuart_Weenig, i'm facing again this data error:

    2014-12-31_123127.png2014-12-31_123020.png

I don't know why some days it works, and some days it doesn't. We don't have change anything since the first implementation. Just a change of the harvester IP, but We think that, it is not affecting the app.

Add 127.0.0.1 to the list of hosts to accept SNMP requests from.

    Hi Stuart_Weenig,

I added the 127.0.0.1 to the list, then restarted the SNMP service and Watchdog service, but i'm still facing the problem and the messages

Also, I have again the problem with The information within NPC > Enterprise Dashboard. message: No ReportAnalyzer is available.

This problem is only solved if I erase the files within E:\CA\NFA\reporter\datafiles\input and restar the services, but I have to do this process frecuently. How can I fix it at all?

    Oscar,

What happens if you test this by selecting "Accept packets from any host" in the SNMP settings and restart the Watchdog?

  • 14.  Re: System Status erros

Oh, right good point. I was thinking the SNMP failures were from master to the master. Yes, either disable the restrictions altogether or configure it to allow from the master's IP/FQDN.

First check the community string used for watchdog under Administration -> Watchdog settings:

    graphic

Then we need to make sure that the SNMP Service settings contains this community string. No special characters can be used.
Also Accept SNMP packets from ANY host must be checked.

'Accept SNMP packets from ANY host' does not have to be checked. However, the master console's IP and/or FQDN must be in that list if it is not selected.

I haven't had any problems using special characters in the watchdog community string. Perhaps I haven't tried to use the special character that isn't allowed.

While some have been able to not check 'Accept SNMP packets from Any host' I have seen some sites need this.

This generalization by accepting from any host helps. Also Yes special characters may be used not sure if there are specific ones that don't work. Once again just a generalization to ensure proper configuration

    Hi dudes,

Thank you all for the  time to reply.

I have applied the new configurations, but no positive effect.

SNMP CS doesn't have any special character

Ah, that line from the watchdog log is a good indicator. Usually that happens when you get some type of 400 level http error from the internal web service calls. This indicates a problem within the master console probably. Has support been any help?

    Oh, interesting.

Yes, definitely that watchdog log line did help. and your support too.....

On mine, it points to E:\CA\NFA\ProxyServices. Looks like it's missing from your installation.

And, within your E drive, exist that ProxyServices path?

  • 25.  Re: System Status erros

Yes. Maybe I can zip it up and post it, but support probably has an idea around how to properly restore it.

    I see.

Can you post it? I think that it would help for me, and for someone else with the same issue, so No would be necessary open  tickets for the same reason.

I would appreciate it so much Stuart.

I'd rather see if any of the support guys chime in as to whether it's just

the directory and the virtual directory of if you'd need the IIS config for

that directory too, or anything else. It would also be beneficial to find

out why that directory is missing from your install.

    Ok,

So, to be sure, Those system messages that I see in System status, like disk space, snmp stopped, are HTTP/ProxyServices/IIS/ProxyServices folder problems?

  • 29.  Re: System Status error

    Posted Jan 09, 2015 10:45 AM

Almost. The 'unknown' messages indicate that the watchdog on the master can't poll that information from the harvester(s). In your case, the reason that isn't happening is that the watchdog isn't getting the information it needs in order to poll (list of harvester IP addresses & SNMP community strings).

Now that I think about it, these problems may be related. If the ProxyServices folder is broken, other pieces may be missing that are causing your other problems.
