    Hello,

Has anyone bad experiences with instalation of Policy server if MS SQL2012 server is used as Policy store?

I got an fatal error during installation Policy Server. The smreg command failed at end of installations process.

    Error message from ca-ps-details.log:

    COMMAND: "C:\Users\Administrator\AppData\Local\Temp\2\316703.tmp\smreg"  -su ******

    RETURN: -1

STDOUT: The policy store could not be initialized.

Failed to create the super user account.

    Environment:

Policy Server 12.5 -  MS WIN 2008R2 server,

Policy Store -  MS SQL2012 DB on MS WIN 2012 Server.

    Thanks,

    Karol

    Hi Kristen,

Karol question belongs to CA SiteMinder product.

This kind of error occurs during the Policy Store initialization with Policy Server if they have any connectivity issues between Policy Server to MS SQL 2012 DB instances. Make sure that they don't have any SSL/Ciphers enabled between the Policy Server to DB instances.

As I had faced similar issue last year (September 2014) with SiteMinder 12.52 SP1 when we enabled a OAS at Oracle DB instance. To fix that issue, CA had provided a new Data Direct drivers to support any kind of secured communications between SiteMinder Policy Server to DB instances if they are in secured communications.

    Thanks,

    Soma

Thanks, Soma! I've added this thread to the CA Single Sign-On category.

    Hello,

I am facing similar situation with the 12.8 upgrade. They require their connection to the SQL server to be SSL.

Do you know where I can find this " To fix that issue, CA had provided a new Data Direct drivers to support any kind of secured communications between SiteMinder Policy Server to DB instances if they are in secured communications."?  Need go through support?  Thank you,

    Solution: **********************
This has been fixed, the configuration on the ODBC where need to check SSL

The installation command is attempting to create and set the super account/password

    smreg"  -su ******

Looks like the structure and connection failed in some way

    What should be checked is that the tables exists, created from running the following;

    BASE TABLES: C:\F6\CA\siteminder\db\SQL\sm_mssql_ps.sql

    XPS TABLES: C:\F6\CA\siteminder\xps\db\SQLServer.sql

    Siteminder XDD files:  XPSImport C:\F6\CA\siteminder\xps\dd\SmMaster.xdd

At this point smreg can take place
