    A couple of clarifications:

    • IR 2 (Incremental Release 2) does NOT consolidate the features of IE 1 (Interim Enhancement 1); it is delivered as a PTF to be applied on top of other 8.5 PTFs.
    • The "wiki" mentioned is wiki.ca.com where all of the documentation for CA Gen (as well as many other CA products) is now available.

    John,  a couple of questions.

    1) Is there a reason RI2 was not a rollup?  PTF naming wise, it's consistent with IE1 (WKS85###), which *is* a rollup, and makes deployment significantly easier.  Looking at the pre-requisites, I think (but could be wrong) that you essentially had to take all prior PTFs anyway?

    2) What does this mean for existing documentation?  Will it be kept in sync?  Will it still be available as downloadable PDFs or HTML?  It doesn't look to be laid out in the same fashion, but does seem to cover a lot of the same bases.  How will these be kept in sync?  And will an offline version be available, because not everyone will have universal access to the internet at all times?  Searching through PDFs is significantly simpler than trying to search through that Wiki.

    Daniel,

Thanx for the questions.  The reason that IR2 is not a rollup is simply one of scheduling; it takes significantly longer for us to deploy a rollup PTF than a regular one.  We are looking for ways that we can decrease this time so that we can do incremental releases as rollup PTFs.

As far as I know, all documentation comes from a single source and is just deployed in multiple different forms.  The wiki form is the one that will be the most up to date as a wiki is being used precisely so that changes can be deployed in a much shorter time than is possible with the PDF and HTML versions of the docs.  My understanding is that those other forms will still be available but may not be as up to date.

    Hi Daniel,

Further to John's comments the 8.5 Bookshelf (html & pdfs) and the 8.5 Wiki both have the latest updates for IR2, but the 8.5 indexed PDFs (Find Other Documentation) does not yet have them.

Also when you go into each Wiki "parent" section you can Print/export it (and its children) in EPUB or PDF format so if you wish you can get an offline version of specific sections of interest rather than having to download the complete suite.

    Happy New Year!

    Regards,

    Lynn

Thanks John and Lynn, that certainly helps to clarify things for me.  Very heartened to hear that the offline documentation will still exist and be kept up to date (albeit potentially lagging in time).

    Much appreciated!
