What if we upgrade the JRE version of used by CA Introscope 9.5?
Is there an effect on the performance? or is Java 1.8 still compatible with Introscope 220.127.116.11??

Yes we don’t support EM with Java 8 yet.
You cannot upgrade the JRE used by the EM unless specifically asked to by CA Support and is documented in our Compatibility Guide.
This will put you out of support/warranty.
The agent needs to be v9.7.0 to support Java 8 (which is important as the last public Oracle Java 7 is April 2015)
The last public version of Java 7 being April 2015 brings up a question about the Workstation Java Web Start. Java Web Start has been a support nightmare recently. Every time Oracle updates the JRE, it has been breaking. What EM level will be needed for Java 8 and Java Web Start?
Are you talking about agents or the EM/server components?

As I've said previously, no EM supports Java 8. Agent support for Java is listed in the compatibility guide for the version you have deployed.
@Davis, so we cannot upgrade the Java Version of Introscope EM?

As I stated previously, you cannot upgrade dependent components of APM without expressed permission from CSO.
What do CSO means?
Introscope Application on our end uses a 1.6_35 version of Java.
Sae version was used by EM is that what you meant?

The Enterprise Manager comes with its own Java VM. You can find it in <em_home>/jre. You cannot use a different JRE for the EM to use. You do this and something goes wrong, CSO will not help you until you change it back to the version that was shipped.
This restriction is different than applications where the agent is installed. Those restrictions are listed in the Compatibility Guide for the version of APM agents you have deployed.
What if the server that needs to monitor is Java 8 Version, and i used a Introscope agent with the same version as EM. would there be an issue?
To cut a long thread short:
the EM is only supported with Java 7.
APM 9.7 agents support Java 8 on Tomcat (Oracle and OpenJDK only)

That’s not 100% accurate. We do ship a “introscopex.y.0.0unixOther.tar” for use on platforms we don’t have a proper JRE or installer and customer can use a JRE already available on the box to run it. That being said, this JRE does have version requirements. For example, for a 9.5 EM, do not expect to be able to run it with a 1.8 JRE, it probably won’t work, and CA Support would probably not be able to help you (they would probably tell you to install the right JRE version to start with).
