CA Tuesday Tip: Privileged Identity Manager - How to issue an OS command under selang?

Discussion created by gouch01 Employee on Feb 17, 2015

Summary:

It is possible to issue an OS command directly under selang session without the need to leave the session.

Solution:
The exclamation mark ( ! ) could be used if an OS command needs to be run under the Privileged Identity Manager (ControlMinder) selang session.

Here an example under UNIX/LINUX machine:
  # selang
CA ControlMinder selang v12.80.0.1432 - CA ControlMinder command line interpreter
Copyright (c) 2013 CA. All rights reserved.

  AC> !id
  uid=0(root) gid=0(root)
  AC>

Here an example under WINDOW machine:
C:\>selang
Target host: localhost
CA ControlMinder selang v12.80.1432 - CA ControlMinder command line interpreter
Copyright (c) 2013 CA. All rights reserved.

AC> !echo %OS%
Windows_NT
AC>
