Unlimited JCE files for Web Sphere

Discussion created by Sagi_Gabay Employee on Feb 25, 2015

We have received quite a few support cases where customer apparently mixed the unlimited strength JCE files when using Web Sphere as IDM's application server.

With Web Sphere as application server we support both Sun JDK as well as the IBM's JDK. The IBM JDK is more popular and usually is used by default for Web Sphere installations. You can know which JDK is in use by your web sphere by starting it and checking the first few lines of the log file. These lines will show you the JDK vendor, version and path where it is located.

Now: When it comes to using the JCE unlimited strength files for the JDK (which is required when integrating Identity Manager with Site Minder) then you must make sure you use the libraries that match your JDK by vendor and version. We have noticed many customers try to use the Sun JDK unlimited JCE files with their IBM JDK. This leads to errors.
