Can someone please explain what is this new feature in the JCS called Dir Sync and to configure it?
thanks in advance
DirSync (Directory Synchronization) is an optional component that allows an On-Premise corporate directory to be monitored for changes which can be synchronized to Cloud Services (Cloud Connector Server Endpoints) directly without the interaction of Provisioning Server. Using DirSync users from On-Premise corporate directory can be provisioned/de-provisioned to cloud services.
The focus of DirSync is for small to medium sized customers who have their own On-Premise ActiveDirectory Server effectively acting as their Local Identity Provider. And these customers can use their On-Premise ADS to indirectly manage access to cloud services using it as a proxy interface.
The cloud services targeted are those for which we have connectors, and which act as Identity Providers: eg: Salesforce, GoogleApps,.
Following is the simple use case:
Customers uses ADS Groups (also called "Trigger Groups") as metaphors for Cloud Provisioning. Adding a user to such a group will cause provisioning to take place so that this user becomes able to access the targeted service. Removing a user from the group will cause de-provisioning so that the service becomes inaccessible to this user.
While installing the JCS (Java Connector Server) we need to enable/select the option for DirSync. After installation we need to configure the Monitor (for monitoring the changes on local corporate store) using JCS admin UI.
