Would you like to see more time periods in your Time Scale Values?

    Have you seen the warning
‘The time periods requested do not exist’?

Refer to the article TEC439086 which explains why you see the warning and how you can configure your views to get around the warning,

There is an approved extension that will expand your Time Scale Value date range.

In the Out of the Box configuration the date ranges are as follows:

28 Daily - One week in the past, the current day and 3 weeks in the future
16 Weekly - 2 weeks in the past, the current week and 13 weeks in the future
36 Monthly - 4 quarters in the past, the current quarter and 7 quarters in the future
Year, Quarter and Monthly periods all use monthly slices

With the extension, the new internal time slice ranges will be as follows:

42 Daily - 7 days in the past, the current day and 4 weeks in the future
45 Weekly - 4 weeks in the past, the current week and 40 weeks in the future
51 Monthly - 4 quarters in the past, the current quarter and 12 quarters in the future
Year, Quarter and Monthly periods all use monthly slices

The extension is a simple .xml file which gets applied to your Clarity instance. Support can provide you with the file (or request the extension for On Demand customers.)  All you need to do is enter a case to request the TSV Extension.

Note: This is the only approved extension for TSV date ranges.

Readers of this, please review Replace outdated Blob, Time Slice and Datamart technology with modern Database Sparse Matrices and Data Cubes and vote it up.  The idea is currently under review.

Thanks for the tip reminder, but if the data is in the database - please, let us see it without all of these jobs and error messages!  Our projects oftentimes last 4 years or more, and the programs they are associated with years longer.  Slicing a fixed number of periods, even if extended, doesn't solve our problem.

    Chris,

CA PPM Community site appears to be down.  Waited several hours, still getting same maintenance page.  Tried using admin link, and got following error reply.

Expect someone knows what is going on, but getting actual results (hours and still not working) vs. forecasted results (minutes, check back soon) is frustrating.

Today, I want to see what others are doing regarding project schedule updates – as there is no set of “Schedule Last Updated Date/By” attributes, how are people tracking whether project managers are ever updating their projects, and if so, who is doing it and when?

    Thanks,

    Dale

    Hi,

We are installing this extension. Could you tell me what the backout procedure would be? How can we uninstall this ?

    Regards,

    Jana

This isn't "software" it is just "configuration", so to back-out all you would do is restore the original settings for the slices.

    Jana,

This is a dbpatch which updates some values in the db for the internal slices.  These are the slices which are used for the TSV portlets.

For On Premise customers it is a command from the Clarity app server command line.  The readme has the instructions.

Before you do this pause the time slice job the run the command and resume time slice job.

You do not need to stop services.

For On Demand customers, please enter a case and our team will take care of it.
