I am wanting to to push the NAS_TRANSACTION_SUMMARY and NAS_TRANSACTION_LOG to an external MS SQL database. I can't find any documentation on how to acheive this. Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks in advance,
If you enable the NiS Bridge in the NAS, it will automatically update the NiS database (the database to which the data_engine connects--NimsoftSLM by default) with the alarm data. This would be the simplest approach by far.
Another possibility is to enable the network transaction-logging option and use the adogtw probe to read the transaction messages from the bus and update the database. This is simple to enable in the NAS, but I am not sure how much work it is to setup the adogtw probe and the database when using this approach.
Ah, I do have the NiS Bridge enable but I wasn't aware that it was already updating the NimsoftSLM database. I can see both the tables in there now. Cool.
As for the second option, I have the network transaction-logging enabled and I now added the adogtw probe. Inside adogtw, I created a new connection to the MS SQL server and tested the connection. I got a green light saying testing passed. I'm assuming I would need to create a new profile inside adogtw and use a sql query to update the external database? The question now is how do I get the transaction messages from the bus to my database? Do you have an example query of this?
I have never tried this with the adogtw, but you can find an exmple configuration in the documentation for the adogtw in the probe help file. The example looks like it works with the transaction-logging option in the NAS, so you might be able to follow it exactly.
Just to answer the last question - no query is needed to push the NAS tables into another source via the ADOGTW, all you need to do is create a new table in your target DB with table/fields setup to mirror the NAS tables and it'll automatically pump it in, you'll just need to map the field columns in the ADOGTW Probe.
I tried this actually, using the sql schema / table definition files in the nas folder.
Once I had done that I had a few tables
something about notes etc
Now which "subject" do you subscribe to and which one of those does it go to?
"alarm_new,alarm_update" go to NAS_ALARMS
"nas_transaction" go to NAS_TRANSACTION_LOG
What goes to the summary?
I do not think there is a message that correlates directly to the NAS_TRANSACTION_SUMMARY table. This table holds one row per alarm. For closed alarms, this would be the state of the alarm when it was closed. I do not recall if open alarms are included in the table (I would guess they are). If they are, the table should show the current state.
