Is there a way to have the UMP Home page showing one specific CustomDashboard without logging in to the UMP?
I don’t want to create 1000 new users for our employees to be able to look at a specific dashboard…
Great question/request! The SDP allowed users to both pass credentials via a URL and via dashboards as a single URL in full screen so that you could easily remotely view a single dashboard.
With that said, I don't believe it's possible to do anything comparable via the UMP today, I think this may have to be submitted as a feature request. However, if you're running both the UMP and the SDP, let us know and I can walk you through this, basically, you would setup something similar to this:
And then, you would setup the dashboard under one of UMP's "public" pages as an embedded URL.
Best of luck,
In our test environment we are only running UMP.
New question. Is it possible for a guest account logged in to UMP only to be able to see one(or a selection of) specific dashboard? I don't want this user to see them all.
Your other option is just create one generic account that has access to this one dashboard that is how we handle all our sales staff and others that don't have specific nim logins.
Just to add to Neal's post, the other thing I'll do with customers here is I'll login using the user/customers account, setup the tabs/portlets I'll give them access too and when I have it setup with the minimum access via their account I'll change their skin to "Read only":
1. Log in using the customer/user account you want setup with limited privileges
2. Go to the 'Welcome' drop-down menu within the UMP (upper right hand corner) and select "Manage Pages"
3. Go to the "Look and Feel" top at the very top - there are two sections for Look and Feel, one for the individual page, and one for all pages, you want the highest one up for all pages
4. Under available pages select the "UMP Read-Only" page
How do I create this user?
I’ve tried both:
Control Panel -> Portal -> Users
But unable to login with these?!
Do I have to create the user in Infrastructure Manager?
Yes you have to create a nimsoft user as all logins are tied into the nimsoft accounts and or users and as you can see from below the portal-ext.properties contains a nms login function. Also for the most part all the permission are assigned from the nms. You can do some extra stuff in UMP such as disabling certain app for users/roles which I have done cause I don't want my customers to be able to design dashboards and list etc...
