I have a prospect who asked if Nimsoft can monitor disk utilization on iSeries down to the level of individual libraries and objects within a library.
Any help greatly appeciated.
In the iSeries world, disk is known as System ASP (ASP = Auxiliary Storage Pool) and libraries are the equivalent of directories or DB tables; the iSeries is basically a large DB2 database but note, our DB2 Probe will not work against it, however, our SQL_Response Probe will.
Using the Systat Probe (it's almost like perfmon for iSeries) you can look at a number of detailed stats specific to SystemASP, our Jobs Probe also provides details regarding Jobs (jobs are almost like daemons/processes) and the temp storage they consume.
Another probe worth demonstrating is our Dirscan probe, interacting/browsing an iSeries host will be similar to a Windows host, however, you can use the probe to browse libraries and can set alarms and QoS against a number of stats so give this a look too.
Also, let your prospect know we're capable of implementing Dynamic Dashboards for their iSeries hosts - I created some awhile back, they can be found in the 'Complete' zip build Sachin sends out for our POC's.
Good luck and post up if you need more details!
