Alarming when the NAS is not able to send emails....

Hi Guy's,


I have a customer that tells me that every now and then the NAS stops sending emails.


I've told them to grab the logs, the next time it happens and we can investige what the problem is, but in the mean time they want to setup some sort of monitoring to detect if the NAS is not sending emails and then send an email or SMS from a different server.


Has any one done any sort of alerting/monitoring of the responce time for alerts to be sent out via email?


Any Idea's of how we might go about this?
