I have a prospect with an older NOD environment that doesn't have the list viewer/designer porlets. Can we pull them in or do we have to upgrade the NOD environment?

Yes. please open a ticket with support. There are 4 or 5 service patches (hotfixes) available against UMP 1.50. These service patches are implemented as packages which can be dragged and dropped like any other probe package and will update the related portlet.
One of the service patches, ump_accountadmin 22.214.171.124, is in the webarchive (http://support.nimsoft.com/Default.aspx?center=felles/archive&state=HF). I do not know why the others have not been staged there. You will have to obtain them from support.
These are for UMP 1.50 so you must be running on 1.50.
(FYI -- thre's nothing specific about NoD in this thread, this is basic UMP question).
You would not 'have a login' regardless of whether it is NoD or On Prem. Use the customer's credentials -- just like you would for an on prem engagement. Or better yet, show the customer as part of your demonstration (webex session(s) how easy it is to apply updates to the NMS.
