Anyone upgrade to NMS/UMP 7.5? Just did today.. So far, everything said UMP should migrate my existing published custom dashboards to the new dashboard portlet in UMP 7.5.. I have no dashboards that were migrated. Anyone experience this yet?
I have our upgrade scheduled for Thursday, luckily we only have a couple of custom dashboards but Ii do hope they have a migration path for these as I still don't want to recreate. From what I was told the old dashboards will still work is that correct?
We upgraded last week. Make sure that you back out any custom liferay code, or any direct page refrences in your portal control panel. In my environment I have hacked liferay to not show public and private pages and then all clients go to a specific page at login based on their communities. The new HTML5 dashboard designer is nice, but at the moment only works for locally defined users.
Wow, that seems pretty unacceptable to me that to use this new HTML5 dashboard feature, you have to throw out all your previus UMP configuration?
In my lab environment that has been upgraded 6.6->7.0->7.1->7.5, I ran into the problem that it fails for new users, while users that already has logged in (and has thus been created) works fine.
It is able to create the new users, but when they attempt to login, they get an obscure error message (after successful login).
So none of the old dashboards can be edited in the new UMP?
the old dashboard designer is still available, mine were exported but any qos or alarm data needed to be redone as those didn't get imported properly basically just the layout.
It's not possible. The new liferay version does not allow you to import older UMP lar fiels. We tried everything from upgrading a 6.1 to 7.1 to 7.5 but the import still does not work. You need to start fresh.
From our issue in NMS support:
"The new UMP 7.5 uses a new version of Liferay underneath and the old LAR files are not compatible. "
not looking forward to the amount of work to rebuild all of that.
After the upgrade you can just export the LAR file from the 7.5 version and replace the previous versions.
What he meant by the old dashboard designer is the portlet. You can add a page to your portal, then go to Add --> Portlet --> Monitoring (Deprecated) --> DashboardDesigner
From there you can import your dashboard into THAT version of the designer. Apparently there is no way to port it to the HTML5 version, but at least it is still usable in a new environment.
@Dblanco, I was able to move .lar files from a 6.5 installation to a 7.6 installation the customer is moving to. I just unchecked all the Applications on the export (Setup, Archived Setup, User Preferences, & Data). It didn't make the .lar file that much smaller (1.6MB to 1.5MB) but it did import all the pages from the old portal. Of course none of the reports were there and dashboards didn't link, but you can import and fix the links.
