  • 1.  VMWare datastore alerts

I have configured the VMWare probe to alert on datastore % free, but am anuable to figure out how to get the alert to show the actual name of the datastore.  My old message that wokred with version 4.x of VMWare probe:

The disk usage for datastore $descr on $host has $value % Free

I've tried numerous variables to show the name, all to no avail.  The default shows this:

The disk usage for datastore IP_OF_ESXHOST on IP_OF_ESXHOST has % free.

    Any pointers would be great.

    Thanks,

    Todd

    Hi,

I'm using the default message "The monitor $monitor on $host:$port is outside expected limits ($value $oper $thr)" and I'm on 6.01. I believe they worked on 5.x too.

How did you do your upgrade from 4.x to a higher version? I believe you're going to have to remove the probe and reconfigure it altogether, as it does not support direct upgrade. That's what I did anyway, fortunately I don't have massive vmware environments..
