  • 1.  SNMPTD / Cim_traps / Name resolution

    Hi,

     

    I dont know if I miss something but I'd like to be able to show as alarm source the hostname instead of IP's.

     

    I added cim_traps since I am working only with HP Servers, added all the profiles, let default settings and enabled Name resolution on General Tab but all the alarms are showed with IP.

     

    Do I need to configure anything else to enable Name Resolution and show Hostnames not IP's?

    Hi,

     

    I'm not 100% sure, but I think it just depends on whether the server itself can resolve the IP to name. Have you tried nslookup?

    Thanks for the info. Even not being 100% sure, I will think about this since sure I am not able to resolve names from the hub since there are few domains configured and very restricted rules.

    It would probably also work if the IPs are mapped to names in the hosts file. That should be easy to test if you want to give it a try.

    Thanks for the suggestion too!

    I will try it and if works maybe I ask Windows team to provide me the whole list of hosts to add them there.
