Has anyone had trouble installing robot on Redhat EL6. Is this version of linux supported?
not sure if you're still interested. I installed it on RHEL5 and that worked fine.
What kind of issues are you running into?
We have RH release 5 and it works alright. I have noticed some playing with GLIBC that we had to do to get things working properly though.....I would need to dig out the notes if you wanted......
We are trying to install robot on Linux 2.6.32-71.el6.x86_64 #1 SMP and only able to get 3.11 robot installed. When we try to upgrade to new versions, keep getting error NO SECTIONS FOUND...
Looking to see if anyone else is having same trouble.
When it comes to Linux systems we don't really care about the kernel version as much as the version of glibc the system is running. I don't know exactly which glibc version Redhat 6 uses, but I would guess it's one that the older robots have never heard of The workaround is pretty simple:
Open the robot_update package in the package editor (by double-clicking on it in IM's Archive node)
Find the LINUX_23 section (or LINUX_23_64 if you are on a 64bit system)
Rename the OS to LINUX (that's a fallback position if the robot can't figure out which glibc version you are running)
Drop the robot_update package and you should see a new robot come up.
The reason the old robot you managed to get installed works is that it has that LINUX section since that's what glibc 2.1 was called. When we jumped to glibc 2.3 or higher it became LINUX_23. Support for the really ancient versions was dropped some time ago, so the LINUX section is no longer there.
If you are doing a new installation with nimldr you can do the same trick, except you also need to rename the file to install_LINUX.zip.
Hope this helps!
