Is there a Nimsoft Robot availlable to be installed on zLinux which is ontop of a zSeries from IBM?
We want to monitor the DB2 instances on this zLinux system.
How goes it? Long time no talk!
While Nimsoft doesn't offer a zSeries Robot, it might be possible to monitor DB2 using the DB2 Probe anyway since that's an agent(optional) probe and doesn't actually need to be installed on the target system.
That aside, i don't know if the version of DB2 on zSeries is supported, I know we don't support DB2 on the iSeries via our DB2 Probe so the way I needed to monitor it in the past was via our SQL_Response Probe using DB2 ODBC drivers and custom queries which still allowed me to get the job done.
I did a quick Google search and I believe you'll have to use the SQL_Response method but you could always open a case for a definitive response through support - I searched existing cases and cannot find one to reference.
Good luck and take care,
Thanks, all is OK here ;-).
Thanks for the quick reply. This is sufficient information for me.
On monday a Nimsoft SalesRep. is coming by the office, I"ll talk it over with him..to get a definite confirmation.
Any update on running a robot on zLinux? Still interested in an actual robot install on this platform?
We are still interested in having a robot to install on zLinux. We also have interest in a monitoring solution for zVM.
We are now using remote monitoring tools & sql_response for monitoring db2 on zLinux.
How many systems are you looking to monitor? we have been looking at potentially providing a zLinux robot for some time now but the demand has been there. As Dustin said it should be possible to monitor DB2 on zLinux with the existing probe but we are definitely interested in understanding your requirements here.
