Most probes have been updated to support "NIS(TNT2)" (this text is visible in the archive in the release notes)
What does this mean? It looks like even the logmon has a "nis" mode. what are the pre-req to use this.
The NIS is the Nimsoft Information Store
TNT (and I'm not joking...) stands for The Next Thing
We're in the process of getting some new things in place for upcoming versions and what you're seeing there in the release notes is dev prepping each of the probes for some architecure changes.
ohh please tell me that the probe configs will be stored centrally in the db ......(like the NIS already does for a few probes ...)
But with all the options !! not just a "ping" like for the net_connect. that's too limited..
Is this Next Thing far away ?
