Any way to use ad_response without login?

We were hoping to replace ldap_reponse with ad_response, but it looks like the latter requires a username and password to be configured.  We currently do not authenticate when checking LDAP is up and running, and it would be simpler if we could continue monitoring that way.  Maybe that is a bad idea; you probably get way better information out of AD/LDAP by logging in.

Is there any way to make ad_response work without an account?
