Is there any certification that Nimsoft seeks or maintains with vendors that certifies their product or probes are safe to use with that vendors technology? For instance, does MS certify that exchange probes wont break exchange?

Some of the probes have undergone certification, typically the cisco
callmanager probes. The Cisco Callmanager product family required this
for all third-party vendors/integrators.
I have not heard of any requirements like this for other products, like Exchange, Oracle, DB2, etc.
The general development idea when making probes is to non-intrusively
monitor the target app./device through read-only interfaces/mechanisms.
