  • 1.  CABI SP2 Installation Issue

    Posted Mar 25, 2015 06:40 AM

    Hi all,

I have a 13.1 Sandbox environment which I have recently upgraded to v14.2

We have a dedicated Reporting server which currently has CABI 3.3 installed. We wish to test Jaspersoft running in parallel with CABI. Is it correct to say that I need to upgrade CABI to 3.3 SP2?

I have attempted to do this using the release notes and when the installer kicks off it runs into the following error:

"Error 2755. Server returned unexpected error 1622 attempting to install package D:\Temp\CABI SP2\cabi-windows-boeX1R3_SP7\SP7\pacakage\BusinessObjects_SP_7.msi"

Is my installation path too long?

    Hi CMCN1982,

To test Jaspersoft you don't need to upgrade CABI, you can just install Jaspersoft and configure in CSA.

    Hi Suman,

ok. But if we still want to use CABI as well as Jaspersoft, do we need CABI 3.3 SP2 in order for it to work with Clarity 14.2?

    Thanks Suman.

I am running into a problem with the sp2 install. It's probably a simple solution but I just can't see what I'm doing wrong.

The installation guide suggests the following:

    1. Login into windows machine as Administrator. DONE

    2. Download and unzip the CABI 3.3 SP2 patch installer to a temporary folder. DONE - (D:\Temp\cabi-windows-boeXIR3_SP7)

    3. Make sure the Server Intelligence Agent service and the Application Server are running. DONE

    4. Open command prompt and go to the temporary folder. DONE

    5. In the command prompt run the following command to install CABI 3.3 SP2 patch

     Installing with GUI

    biekpatch.exe –l “c:\installation.log”  DONE

When I run the command as below however:

    cmd 1.PNG

Nothing seems to happen - the installation wizard does not commence as expected.

I check the install log and the following is displayed:

    Friday 03/27/15 11:20:56 DBG -- Enter BIEK_SetDebugMode

    Friday 03/27/15 11:20:56 DBG -- bOnOff = 1

    Friday 03/27/15 11:20:56 DBG -- Leave BIEK_SetDebugMode

    Friday 03/27/15 11:20:56 DBG -- Enter BIEK_StartPatchInstallEx

    Friday 03/27/15 11:20:56 DBG -- Enter LaunchPatchInstall

    Friday 03/27/15 11:20:56 DBG -- pPatchDir = D:\Temp\cabi-windows-boeXIR3_SP7

    Friday 03/27/15 11:20:56 DBG -- Got patch SP7, level=10, min=7, template=<PLACEHOLDER>"<PATCHDIR>\SP7\setup.exe" CLIENTLANGUAGE=<LANGCODE> INSTALLDIR="<TARGETDIR>" REBOOT=ReallySuppress ARPSYSTEMCOMPONENT=1

    Friday 03/27/15 11:20:56 DBG -- Current patch level=10

Friday 03/27/15 11:20:56 DBG -- boxiVersion is BusinessObjects Enterprise XI Release 3 SP5, patchlevel is 10

Friday 03/27/15 11:20:56 DBG -- boxiVersion is BusinessObjects Enterprise XI Release 3 SP5, patchlevel is 0

Friday 03/27/15 11:20:56 DBG -- after getting, boxiVersion is 3.300000, required boxiversion is 3.300000

    Patch SP7 already installed.

    Friday 03/27/15 11:20:56 DBG -- Leave LaunchPatchInstall. Return value = 16021

    Friday 03/27/15 11:20:56 DBG -- Leave BIEK_StartPatchInstallEx. Return value = 16021

This seems to sugegst that the patch is already installed, but I'm unsure how, as when I initially got the wizard to open, as in my opening post, the installation did not complete due to an error. Also, when I check Control Panel it still says I just have version 3.3 installed:

    Can someone please advise? Thanks!

    Hi CMCN1982

It could be due to corrupt installation, so can you please uninstall the CABI, install  from the ISO provided in support site and then apply the patch from FTP.
