    Is it possible to edit events in Spectrum to more human friendly descriptions?

    ProbableCause:    SPC-SAN-20041: No Associated Text

    EventMessage:     Thu 23 Apr, 2015 - 19:46:03 - A "cbgpFsmStateChange" event has occurred, from Rtr_Cisco device, named

    The BGP cbgpFsmStateChange notification is generated

            for every BGP FSM state change. The bgpPeerRemoteAddr

            value is attached to the notification object ID.

    bgpPeerLastError =

    bgpPeerLastError.bgpPeerRemoteAddr = 152.164.132.25

    bgpPeerState = idle

    cbgpPeerLastErrorTxt =

    cbgpPeerPrevState = active

    (event [0x00210d53])

    This is the human readable version of the message It's actually the description of the trap messages from the MIB file. You can change it if you want.

    There are two specific files when you're looking at the context of an alarm in the OneClick console.

    Event File (contains trap based information)

    PCause File (contains Alarm Title, Symptoms, Probable Cause, Recommended Actions)

    The default location for these are <SPECROOT>/SG-Support/CsEvFormat and <SPECROOT>/SG-Support/CsPCause.

    If you want to modify the specific files within the example, copy them into the corresponding custom directory:

    <SPECROOT>/custom/Events/CsEvFormat

    <SPECROOT>/custom/Events/CsPCause

    Looks like the default behavior for event 0x00210d53 is simply a logged event. If you turned this into an alarm within an EventDisp file, you'll need to create a PCause file and stick it in custom. I'm guessing this is what you did since your Probable Cause says "SPC-SAN-20041: No Associated Text"

    You can edit the Event or PCause files to make them more legible for you. Just remember to use the custom directory that way your changes won't get overwritten on a Spectrum patch/upgrade.

    Oh, remember to reload the events within the administrative web page for your OneClick server:

    Administration --> Update Event and Alarm Files --> Click "Reload".

    James,

    The pcause and event messages can be dited directly from event configuration editor as well which is more user friendly. This does the same work as what Jeremy mentioned.

    Now consideirng your description, i see that the pcasue file for this event doesn't exist in Onelcick server/custom/event/Cspcause directory. Did you configure the pcasue details for this event in Event configuration editor of Oneclick?
    Incase yes then I suggest copying the same file from Spectroserver/custom./events/Caspcause directory to Oneclick /custom/event/Cspcause  folder. Once done reload the events from vnm model and you should be all set.
