  • 1.  Tech Tip: How to start XCOM Server on Windows Server 2012 Core

    Posted Jul 06, 2015 02:56 AM

When running XCOM for Windows 11.6 on Windows Server 2012 in Core Modus (without Graphical User Interface) then start the XCOMD CA XCOM Scheduler service as follows:

    Either:

Run the command   net start xcomdsrv   from the command prompt

    Or:

Open Task Manager, Navigate to the Services tab and select xcomdsrv from the services list.
Right click on xcomdsrv and click on start to start the service.

These informations can also be found in Informational APAR RI79924.

    Hello Alexander,

The Installation Guide for 11.6 that I have down loaded does not specify Windows 2012 as a supported platform. Should I download a newer version of it? Under Windows 2008, I notice that the service is still called xcomd.exe ,

Where can I read about Core Modus? I am not a big fan of the GUI either.

    Regards, Yohai

    Hi,

Please find the supported platforms list at -

Distributed Platform Compatibilities - CA Technologies

The platforms which are certified post GA are NOT mentioned in the documentation.  XCOM operations remain same on windows.

    Thanks,

    Machhindra

    Hi Yohai,

the current Version of the Installation Guide for 11.6 does not contain these information about Windows 2012 in Core Modus. In order to bridge the gap until the next version of the Guide is published we created Informational Solution RI79447 which is available here:

    https://support.ca.com/irj/portal/solncdndtls?aparNo=RI79447&os=WINDOWS&fc=1&actionID=3

This document contains more information on the Core Modus in regard to XCOM.

    Regards,
    Alexander
