Where can we find field settings for copy from template option present on Task page?
Tried that on v12.1
If the dates of the original source task were within the dates of the target project the dates of the copied task were the same as those of the source.
If not then they were changed with some logic to be within the project dates.
They can be changed in the same manner as the dates of any task, but before or during the copy process there was no way to change them.
The only was was to change the dates in the source.
Did you mean to say if it is possible to create a task from a template, like we can do for a Project?
This option is available in old versiomnn of clarity i.e. 12.0. We can create task from template of a project.
Just want to know from where the field values are copied when a task is created using template.
Can anyone tell how logic of project created from template works? it is some backend process...
Hi, The fields for the task template are copied from the template project - task. In task list page, in the drop down when you select copy from task template, it will take you to the list of template projects and then to the tasks in those template projects. You can select the required task and it will be created in the project from which you were trying to create a template. Thanks, Jerin
Not sure if this answers your query but when we create project form template and mentions the template name, it refers that template to create a fresh project and copies some of the fields (some fields are not copied, plz go through the Proj mgt guide) in the new project. So it saves time and effort, and is usually helpful when we are trying to create projects in a similar fashion.
Thanks all for the reply.
I have one query that when we are creating one task from template, the task is picking up by default project end date as its start and finish date.
We want to change this value. Is it possible?
Yes. It can be changed.
Please, let me know how to change default values of task start and finish date when they are created from task.
Thanks for the reply. Now, its clear that we cannot modify default value task start and finish dates. It depends on the internal logic.
