See https://communities.ca.com/message/241785551#241785551 for the original thread.

I am looking for this same functionality but within Websphere... I would like to be able to alert if a specific application goes down, but because there are no metrics I can't find a way to do this.

    Hello Jordan,

I don't understand MS IIS app pool exactly from original thread. But can you check whether you can monitor it via "Agent connection status"? This will tell us if agent goes down where in turn application server goes down. Is this what you are looking for?

    Thanks,

    Karthik

Hi Karthik, Thanks for the quick response. We are actually already using the agent connection status to monitor whether the application server goes down. I would like that same functionality for the apps or front ends that are running on the application servers... We are currently scrubbing the WAS logs to determine whether an app goes down and it would be much easier if there was a metric for this in APM...
