I am trying to have a process automatically initiate when task status is set to complete. The process would create a new Action Item which tells an assigned resource to another task that their task is due.
Yes, that can be done. Create the process by checking the condition that the task status is completed, and then send either a notification / email to the resource assigned to the next task.
Also, check this -
Task Complete ~ Update Next Person to Start - Oracle
When a task is marked as complete the process looks to any tasks that are dependent on the newly completed task. If a task is marked as “Not Started” and all of the dependency tasks are marked as complete then the process will change the task status to “Started” and email all resources that are assigned to the task that has started.
The process notifies resources that a task is ready to start and saves the project manager the manual effort of updating dependent tasks. NOTE: The process relies on task dependencies and is most useful in those environments where task dependencies are managed.
I was having a problem associating the process to the task I was checking for status complete. Is the object the process is created for the Task object or Project object? When I created for the Task object, it would not allow me to have a start condition.
It's the task object with project object as the linked object
So, something like this?
Even though I did this, I’m still not able to add a start option.
