Date Formatting issues with NSQL

I have an NSQL query where one date comes out with a "time stamp" in the Portlet Page.  But, the other date comes out formatted properly.  Both have the identical functions.

Why does NSQL ruin my plans to have a date formatted as MM/DD/YYYY?  How can I get the result to format with MM/DD/YYYY?

SELECT VO16.ID, OCT16.TRG_POR_MILESTONE, '|' || TRUNC(TSK16.PRFINISH) TASK_FINISH

FROM PRTASK TSK16

INNER JOIN ODF_CA_TASK OCT16 ON TSK16.PRID = OCT16.ID

INNER JOIN ODF_CA_TRG_RELEASE_OBJ VO16 ON VO16.ID = OCT16.TRG_REL_STAT

WHERE OCT16.TRG_POR_MILESTONE = 'z_tst'

Returns a Bad Result:  2015-01-08 00:00:00

@SELECT:DIM_PROP:USER_DEF:IMPLIED:RELEASETYPE:CASE WHEN (OCT.TRG_POR_MILESTONE = 'z_tst' AND TSK.PRSTATUS = 2) THEN TRUNC(TSK.PRFINISH) END:ZTEST_ACTDT@,

Returns a Good Result: 1/8/15
I am trying to get the "date" to return as a "string" format to combine this with another field in the display.  The problem is that the date won't format just as MM/DD/YYYY
