Do we have any experience with wily integration for monitoring?
nir :-) !
What sort of integration are you looking for? There are a few ways we integrate with CA APM ( Previously Wily Introscope ).
I'm interested in what sort of data you would like to collect.
We want to monitor:
1. The appliance performance (CPU, Memory etc..)
2. The services we develop on the layer 7 (response time, and some other data from a specific services)
You may have to dig into the APM capabilities to see if they already have an agent or method for getting Linux System specific data, such as Memory and CPU. From the gateway perspective, we recommend SNMP polling, when possible, or anything that isn't intrusive on the gateway's running process or anything synchronous that is added to each transaction itself.
Now for Application/Service/API specific monitoring, it really depends on how deep and specific the data is that you want to monitor which will determine the effort required.
Our Tactical Engineering group has developed a solution that gets some basic data regarding the Services over to APM. The data is very similar to the data that you see in the Policy Manager Dashboard view. It gets info such as Front End and Backend Latency, Error Count, Transaction Count, etc..; To obtain this, you can open a case up and request the Tactical APM Integration package, this should get you started.
Depending on your specific requirements and data you want to monitor, this package may/may not meet your needs, but it gives you an idea of how APM is expecting data. You can build on this to fill any gaps.
[ Edit ] - This integration has now Matured and CA now provides the APM integration as an improved and supported product/solution offering. Please reach out to your local Sales Representative if interested.
Thank you very much!!
