Hello All,

I am trying to figure out how Portfolio and roles work. The way we are planning to use portfolio

Steps

1. Create multiple portfolios based on the business area.

2. Allocate Roles to the portfolio

When the above is done expectation is

1. Two new portfolios Portfolio 1 and Portfolio 2 is created

2. Portfolio 1 roles are assigned.

3. In  Portfoilo 2  roles are assigned, it only shows the available roles based on their allocation.

The capacity will would reflect in portfolio 2.

When the above is done what is happening.

1. when portfolios created the capacity change on roles are not reflected.

2. How to select a role based on the skill?

I was not able to find any documents explaining about it.

The way I understand it is the portfolios are not fixed commitments of resource or role allocations like projects, but what if scenarios until they are committed to projects (in those versions where that is possible) #1 is as designed.

Portfolio guides is the documentation which tells how they work.

For #2 I'd start with Resource finder.

If that does not do it then look for a custom portlet with roles and skills.
