  • 1.  Command line software package

    Hi Everyone,

I am trying to uninstall an update which was deployed using CA. On a single computer I use below cmdline to uninstall the package:

    wusa.exe /uninstall /kb:3097877 /quiet /norestart

while doing the same from CA after copying wusa to source andd passing the rest as parameter not working.

Is there any way to create a command line package like in sccm custom task sequenceby putting below command & not using wusa as source file:

    %WINDIR%\SysNative\wusa.exe /kb:2592687 /uninstall /quiet /norestart

    Any suggestion ??

    Regards,

    Mohd Wasique

If the file is in the path then enter wsua.exe and then in the parameters put the rest of the command line. If it’s not in the path then you will need to define the full path to the exe.

If you have CA Patch Manager installed, have you tried using the CA - Win OS/Office Patch Uninstaller 1.0:

This tool is a special CA Patch Manager patch designed to uninstall Microsoft Individual patches by taking the complete patch name as an input through the DSM user parameter field. The patch to be uninstalled can be an operating system patch or an Office patch. MS Patch Uninstaller uses pattern matching based on the patch name provided in the user parameter field to determine the type of patch to be uninstalled and carries out the operation of patch uninstallation. So please be sure to provide the complete patch name including file extension to uninstall the required patch. For example , to uninstall

KB2442962 for Windows Server 2008 SP2 , please mention Windows6.0-KB2442962-x86.msu in the user parameter field to uninstall the patch.

    Steps to Uninstall a patch:

    1) Accept the CA - Win OS/Office Patch Uninstaller 1.0 in CA Patch Manager to bring it to testing state.

    2) Open DSM Explorer

    3) Go to Software -> Software Package Library -> Unicenter Patch Management Packages and choose CA - Win OS/Office Patch Uninstaller 1.0 to deploy.

    4) Select the target machine from where the patch has to be uninstalled.

    5) Provide an applicable software deployment job name and ensure the Advanced Job Settings Check box is checked.

    6) Under Job Options -> provide the complete patch name as input to the User Parameters field. (Please provide only one patch with the complete patch name).

    7) Select OK to deploy the job.

    Hi Richard,

We installed Patch Management recently but can not find CA - Win OS/Office Patch Uninstaller 1.0 in our patch queue.

Can you please help us to find it. May be it was rebranded. Or there is another way to uninstall MS patches?
