Discontinued Browser Support - IE 8, 9 and 10 for CA PPM

An email was sent to CA PPM customers consisting of the following information:

 

CA Technologies is continually working to improve our software and services to best meet the needs of our customers. This message is to inform customers of the impact that Microsoft’s announcement on August 7, 2014 to retire support for certain versions of Internet Explorer will have on your organization’s use of CA PPM.

 

On August 7, 2014, Microsoft made a significant change in its Internet Explorer Support policy.  Effective WEDNESDAY, JANUARY 12, 2016, only the most current version of Internet Explorer available for a supported operating system will receive technical support and security updates. With regards to CA PPM, there are two potential sets of impacts:

 

IMPACTS ON CUSTOMERS PLANNING TO UPGRADE TO THE CURRENT RELEASE OF CA PPM (14.3): Based on Microsoft’s announcement, CA decided to drop support for IE 8 & 9 from CA PPM 14.3, which was released in September 2015. The only operating system and Internet Explorer combinations supported are IE 10 or IE 11 running on Windows 7 or Windows 8.1. Customers may continue to use IE 10 with CA PPM until the End-of-Service Date for the release. However, after WEDNESDAY, JANUARY 12, 2016, CA Technologies will no longer provide any fixes, patches, service packs, updates, upgrades, programmatic changes or coverage for any issues resulting from such usage. Customers should consider these details when establishing their upgrade plans.

 

IMPACTS ON CUSTOMERS RUNNING OTHER CA PPM RELEASES THAT HAVE NOT REACHED END OF SERVICE (13.3,14.2): Customers may continue to use IE 8, 9, or 10 with CA PPM until the End-of-Service Date for the respective release. However, after WEDNESDAY, JANUARY 12, 2016, CA Technologies will no longer provide any fixes, patches, service packs, updates, upgrades, programmatic changes or coverage for any issues resulting from such usage.

 

In both cases detailed above, customers with a still-supported CA PPM version can continue to contact CA Support (Level 1) after WEDNESDAY, JANUARY 12, 2016, for basic configuration, usage, and trouble-shooting of CA PPM used with IE 8, 9, or 10 on an “as is” basis. If a workaround cannot be determined, the customer understands that their problem will be deemed “irresolvable.” 

 

At this time, we encourage you to plan for the impacts listed above.  As a reminder, CA PPM also works in conjunction with versions of Mozilla Firefox, Google Chrome, and Apple Safari as outlined in the Release Notes for each respective version if this information assists your organization as it makes its impact plans.
