Does IDM support creation of accounts that of the type mailuser and not mailbox in exchange?

If you check the account template there is an option to create a "contact object", maybe that is the "Mail user"  and "not mailbox"  that you are asking about. 

Have you tried to see if this functionality is what you need?

Hello Efren,

That only creates a contact. That is not a mailuser type in exchange.

Create an AD account with external e-mail?

I have not tried to create a "mail user" . Try filling the template with the Exchange attributes but you should test if you want to add an external e-mail you must place it in the template

I don't think there is an option to create mail user out of the box.

But I think it should be possible to do so with some configuration and/or multiple account templates that are run in "wrong" order.

But I don't have an active exchange test system to test this out on.
