  • 1.  Are programs in your CA 2E 8.7 Y2SY being Object Audited?

    Posted Jan 21, 2016 10:27 AM

After a recent upgrade to CA 2E 8.7, we notice that our security audit journal was growing dramatically while development was occurring.

Further research showed that object auditing was active on most, but not all, programs in Y2SY.

We promptly removed object auditing from those programs.

How did it get there?  The install?

Does anyone else have this issue?

You'll need security permissions to view audit settings.

As a *AUDIT special authority or higher,

    DSPOBJD OBJ(Y2SY/*ALL) OBJTYPE(*PGM) DETAIL(*BASIC) OUTPUT(*OUTFILE) OUTFILE(QTEMP/PROGRAMS)

Then examine the contents of the ODAUDT column.

Is auditing active on your Y2SY programs???

    Thanks,

    Tony

220 of 1359 objects set to *ALL in  my 8.7 library

    87 of 1343 in my 8.6 library..

    It's spreading - must be a virus...

Sorry Tony C and Richard W,

That was a mistake in the preparation of the 2E release.

You can use the CHGOBJAUD command on all your 2E libraries, for example:

    CHGOBJAUD OBJ(Y2SY/*ALL) OBJTYPE(*ALL) OBJAUD(*NONE)

We have modified our procedures so it will not happen again.

    Apologies for our error,

    Steve Dunk

Thanks Steve.  Trivia:  I generated about 2.5 million security audit journal entries in one day.  I suspect that disabling this logging would also improve the performance of the CA 2E tool.
