  • 1.  How can we add the OBS field to the portfolio portlets?

    Posted Feb 11, 2016 07:25 AM

We have struggling with the idea of take the most advantage of the portfolio capabilities.  The release version in use is CA PPM 14.2, OnDemand  (14.2.0.237 05 12).

The bottom line is that portfolio and sub-portfolios do not have a useful overview to consolidate the "combined" content.

Therefore, the use of investment's OBS fields could help in the analysis. But those fields are no available nor in Investments portlet nor in Waterline portlet.

Any ideas to take to add those fields? for filters and/or columns?

The Portfolio Object itself cannot have a Department OBS unit. However, the 'Portfolio Investment' Object can have the OBS Units configured.

There was a defect where this configuration was not working, but was fixed in v14.2 as per CLRT-75920

(KB TEC1439639 is in the process of being updated with the resolution status that it is fixed in v14.2)

When you register the Department OBS Unit , pick the one that cooresponds to the investment type , like 'Department OBS (Project)'

And then add it into the Investment portlet layout and you should see the Department OBS for each investment in the portfolio

If you need help to understand how to 'register' attributes you can check out this YOUTUBE video

Also, the current functionality with respect to the Portfolio child relationships is restricted at this time.

Thank you Kathryn, actually, it helped.

We succesfully added it to the list layout.

But still cannot add it to the Filter layout. Any thoughts  about it? Maybe waiting for a job to complete will make it available?

To add the OBS to the Filter Section on the Portfolio, Investments portlet, you have to pick 'OBS Unit'

Once you configure it , it will also add the 'OBS Unit - Filter Mode' field

.... However, there is currently a known issue with using the filtering on this field. It does not work.

It is being worked on and is targeted for the next release (Armstrong)  CLRT-79091

I will publish a TECDOC where you can track the status of this issue.
