    Hi All,

In OOB Resource Planning portlet - Workload summary, values against resources are present for four fields:

    1. Allocations

    2. Actuals

    3. Variance

    4. Availability

I want to know how variance is calculated. Like a resource is tagged to a project 1 (50%) and Project 2 (50%). He is available for 7.5 hours/ working day for a month with 20 working days.

    Regards,

    Uruj

    Hi Uruj

As far as I can remember the Variance for a project is calculated by summing up the Baseline Cost values under that Project. Can you please check if that is matching with the results that you are getting in the portlet? Hopefully that might help you.

    Thanks,

    Hi Abhishek,

what is under-allocation? I think that will help me find the cause behind unmatched resource availability and allocation.

    Hi Uruj,

If a resource have 8 hours availability in a day and he is allocated for 4 hours only for a Task then you can say that the resource is under-allocated as there are still 4 hours left for the day if you go by the availability of the day.

And if you want to allocate the resource for the same Task and assign 10 hour against him for the day then you will get a pop-up to confirm whether you want to Over-allocate the resource as it is exceeding his normal availability scale.

    Hope that helps.

    Thanks,
