where can we find group id.
In ca_contact you can find
Do you mean "" How do I know the UUID of a specific group?""
command line on the server:
pdm_extract -f "SELECT id from ca_contact where contact_type=2308 and last_name=''your group name'"
jmayers answer is correct. However I also like to use pure SQL since I find it quicker to load up sql tools than rdp to the service desk server, open cmd, and run the command.
select dbo.hex(ca_contact.contact_uuid), last_name
where last_name = 'your group name'
Hi Grant Bruneau,
Yes you are is correct too and in fact more easy as you don't have to remember the tricky between object/virtualdb and mdb naming.
However in our organization we are strict to apply best practice of splitting data and application layer where application team only touch application and DBA only touch the mdb in that case. Can be a long debate but I agree that in smaller organization a head may mostly have both roles.
This makes sense. I am lucky to have read-only access to the database and temporary SA account access to perform upgrades.
I think you can figure it out by looking at the "view source" of the group detail page...
from web interface, open the group detail page for the group that you would need to find its uuid. now with Ctrl hold, right click and choose "view source" and on the view source page
you will see something like this:
var argPersistentID = "cnt:0496DE2E4684B74AB1B215256C7D90CB";
and 0496DE2E4684B74AB1B215256C7D90CB is the uuid of
this way you won't need to touch the mdb/not access to the
a small tip on top of Chi Chen
I'm an old man with old shell habit but the Chi Chen way of doing is quick and easy too.
Just remember that in some browser (like Chrome) you will need to select "View frame source" to be able to find that id as per default view source will open the top frame.
In Edge this is either worse as you will need to use inspect element to go to the field and get the id
Hope this help
my 2 cents if customers, when he hear "console" word, starting to panic,
but this will not work if customer uses Pop-up mode (without some tricks available in Google Chrome, like swith to regular tab).
