Does anyone know of a way to scan all CA-7 libraries for a string of text? I have over 20 libraries and would rather not go through each library to search for "ROUTE XEQ ADS". Is there a way to scan them all at once?
I do not know if there is an easy way. But if you have ISPF, you can go to 3.14 from the main. In the Search String field type what you are looking for. Since you are searching for something that has more than one word, you will need to put it in single quotes: 'ROUTE XEQ ADS'
Then tab down to Data Set Name field and type one of the CA7 datasets in single quotes and with (*) at the end. for example 'ABC.DFGG.RFTG(*)' and hit enter. This will pull all the members that have ROUTE XEQ ADS. Unfortunately you will need to do this with every CA7 dataset defined as index in the init deck. I hope this helps.
What I am trying to accomplish is to find out all jobs that execute on our ADS system. A lot of our jobs are setup on a different system and use that route xeq statement. My understanding of this is that the jobs setup like this are monitored on a different system (in this case SYSI) but actually execute on another (ADS). We will be having our ADS systems down for a few hours, I need to know what jobs will be affected by this outage. I am fairly new to CA-7, the experience I do have has just been with basic commands and resbumitting / completing jobs, Any advice would be great!
I do like this way of searching better than going through EZYEDIT. Thank you for sharing this Saul, I suppose it wouldn't be too bad having to search each library. Got to love copy and paste
