  • 1.  Getting data from Siteminder OneView via Spectrum through SNMP

    Posted Apr 27, 2016 03:03 PM

I am currentkly looking for a way to get information from oneview and place it in a database,.One of the options I am looking at is using an  SNMP agent to get information from OneView and place it in a MIB database .

Currently I dont see any CA documention on how to integrate Spectrum to get SNMP connection via oneview .

I am looking for help to point me to the right direction.

    Hello,

In order to configure SNMP monitoring with Siteminder, you may have a look at:

    Monitoring CA SiteMinder® Using SNMP - CA Single Sign-On - 12.52 SP1 - CA Technologies Documentation

In this document we do explain how SiteMinder could integrate with 3rd party products to manage SNMP traps.

Upon receiving an SNMP request from the management application(such as HP Open View) the OS Master Agent forwards the SNMP request to the siteminder SNMP Agent. The SNMP Agent contacts the OneView Monitor, retrieves the required information using Monitor Client API, and then sends the response to the Master Agent. The Master Agent, in turn, forwards the response to the management application.

Depending on the OS but for example on Windows:

    Configuring SNMP Agent on Windows

    1. run net-ps-config.exe and select SNMP
    > this program should create the service Netegrity SNMP automatically
    > for manual configuration and other details please refer
         Policy Server Installation guide

How to Configure SNMP Event Trapping on Windows

    1. To enable SNMP event trapping
    > Launch the XPSConfig tool from a command line
    > Type XPS and type the # correspondig to the AuditSMHandlers
    > Type C to change the value to C:\Program Files (x86)\CA\siteminder\bin\eventsnmp.dll
    > Type Q and Q to quite the XPSConfig
    > restart the PS

After enabling SNMP event trapping, configure the snmptrap.conf file

    2. To configure snmptrap.conf

    > Edit snmptrap.conf, which is located in  C:\Program Files (x86)\CA\siteminder\config
    > For the specified trap(s) that you want to receive, uncomment out the appropriate line(s).
    > Specify the IP Address, port number, and community for where you want the trap to be sent.
    > Save the snmptrap.conf file with the new changes.
    > Restart the Policy Server.

There is a sample SNMP management application (snmpsalkrun.bat /sh) located in the <siteminder>/bin folder

    enter siteminder as OID
    Ip address : localhost 8001

    sample output:

For the Spectrum integration as management application, you may check the Spectrum documentation.

    Regards,

    Julien.

Also SSO provides a MIB that be compile on the SNMP manager side

    <siteminder_home>/mibs/NetegrityMIB.mib
