    Hi all:

After dealing with several customers that lost their TIM configuration after an upgrade, I created a knowledge document. It should be available tomorrow at

    http://www.ca.com/us/support/ca-support-online/product-content/knowledgebase-articles/TEC1954126.aspx

Here are the details in the KD:

    Introduction:

The documentation discusses backing up the TIM configuration directory <TIM_HOME>/config and all sub directories.

But only in limited circumstances such as new TIMs or re-imaging a TIM appliance. This document provides additional guidance.

      Question:

The TIM Configuration directory contains SSL private keys, HTTP Plug-ins, and various configuration files. Should I back these up before every upgrade?

      Environment:

All TIMs whether MTP or Stand-alone greater than 9.6.

      Answer:

Yes, you should backup up this important directory before every upgrade. This will ensure that information does not get lost and valuable time is spent recreating key information. Note that for APM releases before 9.6, the TIM configuration path was under /usr/local/wily and after that release is installed under /opt/CA/APM. Apparently, a backup step of the pre-9.6 directory was not added to the installation.
